St. Moritz is one of the world’s most famous holiday resorts. Chic, elegant and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambience, it is located over 6000 feet above sea level. The dry, sparkling “champagne climate” is legendary and the celebrated St. Moritz sun shines for an average of 322 days a year. The ski lifts come down to the edges of the town on two sides. Fifty-six lifts serve the 217 miles of terrain for all levels of skiers and boarders.

The Luxury Steffani Hotel

Located in the centre of St.Moritz, our house has been in the family for 4 generations. Built in 1869, The Steffani is a 4 star family-owned and run boutique hotel located in the heart of St. Moritz. The Märky family runs The Steffani in the 4th generation and welcomes you in their home. Discover, experience and enjoy Their house with the complete offer, the unique atmosphere and let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of the Engadine. We look forward to sharing our passion and tradition with you. Welcome to Hotel Steffani, your second home.

France, Italy and Austria all are great alpine destinations, but Switzerland is the best! We’ve put all the pieces together: non-stop air from Tampa, Deluxe Four Star Hotel with four course dinners, delicious buffet breakfasts, and all at one of Europe’s finest ski areas.

First: there will be a fun Pre-trip Party in Tampa to get everyone acquainted and answer all those last minute questions.

Second: it is off to Zurich from T.I.A. on the non-stop Edelweiss Air (division of Swiss International Airline). Our overnight flight departs on a Friday at 8:35PM so most of us can put in a few hours at work or home before leaving for the airport. Once you arrive in Zurich, Even the journey is stunning. St. Moritz is located in Engadin on the southern side of the Alps at 1,856 meters above sea level – in between Zurich, Milan and Munich. St. Moritz is best accessed by the Rhaetische Bahn, by road via the Julier or Maloja Passes or through the Vereina Tunnel.

Next morning we will be in Zurich where we board a comfortable motor coach for the scenic ride through the Alps. The staff of the 4**** Hotel Steffani will greet us with typical Swiss friendliness and efficiency.

Since over 80 years the Steffani rabbit sits in front of the hotel entrance and oversees hotel guests and employees. He know who walks in and out, he knows celebrities like Giorgio Armani and Ornella Muti, and he blinks discretely when Rolf Sachs enters the hotel, or when the young Cresta Riders storm to the Bar on the first floor to watch their rides. In 1928 the rabbit had its first appearance, as the official mascot for the Olympic Winter Games which were held in St.Moritz.

And this is how it came about: Great events have been a tradition at the Steffani since its foundation in 1869. And so, on the occasion of the 1928 St. Moritz Winter Olympics, the athletes and officials stayed at the Steffani. The mascot of the Olympic Games, the rabbit, thus became the actual Steffani trademark animal and the personal mascot of the Märky family and the Steffani.

The rabbit did not yet see its mission fulfilled with its function as a mascot and heraldic animal and caused a sensation when it was awarded first prize in the advertising logo category at the 1928 World's Fair in Chicago. From then on, his fate was sealed. He became a logo and has remained so to this day, unchanged by the way, as unchanged as his supervisory function in front of the Steffani's door.

Located in the center of Saint Moritz, 1,000 feet from the funicular to the Corviglia Ski Area, the traditional, family-run Hotel Steffani offers 3 restaurants, 3 bars, a night club, and a spa area with an indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, relaxation area, and massage room.

Guests can dine in the one-and-only Chinese restaurant in St. Moritz called Le Mandarin, enjoy grilled dishes and fish in the Stüva Grill, or characteristic Swiss and Italian cuisine in the Lapin Bleu restaurant, which is the oldest restaurant in St. Moritz.

The Steffani Hotel also features 3 bars, the Dance Club Vivai, and a hair and beauty salon, and provides free WiFi in all areas. Our 60 rooms and suites are furnished with great attention to detail, local murals and high-quality materials. From charming single rooms to romantic suites, our rooms offer homeliness, quality and something for every taste. Nearby attractions include Lake St. Moritz (0.2 miles), Pavarotti & Friends (0.1 miles), and Leaning Tower (0.2 miles)

It’s less than a 5 minute walk to the funicular for Corviglia, which is the main ski area. There are no Ski In/out properties in St Moritz.

St.Moritz is the most famous ski resort of Switzerland since the twenties. The ski area is located on the Piz Nair slopes. Since 1928 a funicular is used to bring the skiers to Corviglia (2486m) which is the top of the ski racks. From Corviglia an aerial tramway takes the skiers to the Piz Nair  (3057m)

The most accessible St. Moritz skiing can be found at the Corviglia and Corvatsch areas, which are the closest in proximity to Bad village. Experts find that there are plenty of thrilling challenges spread out over the area’s vast expanse. The black runs at Diavolezza and Lagalb are probably the most challenging. Plus, there’s plenty of off-piste skiing that stays untracked for days. Those looking to earn their turns should hire a guide and explore Corvatsch’s Roseg Valley. Diavolezza offers a renowned off-piste glacier route, and of course, awesome Alpine views.

Intermediates and families will especially love the Corviglia sector, with its numerous meticulously groomed blue runs and convenient locale to the base area. Intermediates can explore nearly all of the ski areas thanks to St. Moritz’ exceptional grooming capabilities.

Beginners have a couple good terrain options at Salastrains, or Corviglia. Survetta, which is down the road from the main base area.

If you’re looking for a well-heeled ski vacation, few resorts can top St. Moritz’s famed prestige. The resort is truly the No. 1 winter playground of the international jet set. The St. Moritz village is situated at the center of the elongated Engadin valley, which the Inn River passes through. Like most resorts located in the Swiss Alps, you can bet that St. Moritz offers dizzying views of dramatic mountain peaks. The base area is divided into St. Moritz Bad, which is a better locale to access the lifts, and St. Moritz Dorf, which features an elegant shopping village. The resort incorporates five ski areas—Lagalb, Diavolezza, Corvatsch, Furtschellas and Corviglia—and their combined 220 miles of terrain is serviced by 56 lifts. The resort recently replaced older t-bars with high-speed chairlifts, further improving the stellar uphill capacity. As host to the Engadin Ski Marathon, Nordic skiing is quite popular, and the resort offers 115 miles of cross-country trails around the town.

Non ski activities include winter horse racing, and “snow” cricket, bobsledding, snowshoeing, winter walking, tennis, racquetball or shopping in dozens of chic shops. Afternoon tea on a sunny café terrace is a must. A whole world of entertainment from informal bars to the casino and stylish nightclubs fill your evenings. A St. Moritz ski vacation will delight anyone looking for an unbeatable experience.
